The McGill Visual Arts Collection is strongly committed to the development of students’ knowledge and professional skills. Every year, the Collection offers positions such as academic internships and fellowships, work-study employment, and summer jobs for graduates and undergraduates in the fields of art history, communications, history, and beyond. These positions, largely funded by generous donors and student associations, provide unique opportunities for students to learn about art historical research and documentation, art preservation, museum best-practices, the art market, and philanthropy in cultural organizations.

The Internship Program at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection offers internships to students and recent graduates who study art, art history or related disciplines and are interested in gaining first-hand experience of how a museum is run and familiarity with an important collection of modern art.

MAGASIN des horizons experiments in new professional practices combining art and society via its yearly professional training program, "Ateliers des horizons." Fostering a reflection on social changes, evolving professional practices and political challenges faced by the cultural, social and educational sectors, the "Ateliers des horizons" training program uses cross-disciplinary tools from humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, visual arts and performative arts.

De Appel’s Curatorial Programme (CP) is a life-changing opportunity for motivated individuals who seek experience in making art public, beyond what academic degrees can offer. This intensive ten-month residency in Amsterdam offers full immersion in the local scene, with de Appel as an institutional base. Each year, up to six selected participants embark on a rich curriculum, intended to provide direct insight into the work of art-, history- and community-makers. Collectively, they determine de Appel’s public offering for one season. The high stakes of this endeavor and the full integration of participants into the workings of our artist-inspired, publicly-oriented institution, make de Appel’s CP unique among curatorial learning opportunities.
